The best opening I ever read was Billie Holliday's autobio, "Lady Sings the Blues":
"Mom and Pop were just a couple of kids when they got married. He was eighteen, she was sixteen, and I was three."

I suppose nowadays this would hardly raise an eyebrow. But when it was written in 1956, I can only imagine the reaction. I first read it in 1972, when the movie came out. It had an effect on me even then.

I can't be bothered with anything lately, but that's how it is. Nothing seems important, but what can I say? Shrug.
