New post coming a little later today but, while you're here...
How about a little feedback on the Flog? I know, it's my blog and it's what I want it to be, but you know how it is when you create something...you wonder, how's it going?
A few folks have written to suggest collecting the posts into a book, and that creates a whole new way of thinking about what I've been doing.
So tell me
Feedback will be appreciated, especially constructive criticism.
So tell me...
Ray

I really enjoy reading your edits. I don't write novels or stories, but find that many of the hints work for everyday writing as well.
I'm sure aspiring fiction writers could learn a lot from a book based on these posts. But I'd hate to lose the flavor of what the site is now. In other words, a book in addition to this blog: yes. A book instead of this blog: no!

I really enjoy reading the edits, as it gives me a better idea where something works, and where it doesn't. Also, I found my edit that you posted to be invaluable, and I love the fact that you offer something like this.

Ray,
I love the edits as well. Even for work that isn't within my particular genre, you make points that I can always use in my own writing.
I love the fact that you catch things that would probably seem so normal and "innocent" to me if I read the material without the edits. It really makes me rethink my approach.
I look forward to having you edit my material one day.

For what its worth, I find the editing post very instructive. Its good to see how someone outside your head, so to speak, views a piece and what is and is not wrong with it.

I enjoy the editing posts, and find them useful.
Personally, I'd love to see you format them in two columns of side by side text, so the original text could be read on, let's say the left and your comments on the right -- no doubt more work for you. I try to read the orginal text first, in order to see if I'll notice the items you will point out, and I can't do that if I read your comments at the same time.
As for a book? Could be great. Thanks for an enjoyable and helpful blog!

I have to echo the others re: the edits. I find them fascinating to read and the one you did for me was very helpful. Even where I didn't agree with a suggestion, it gave me a new way to look at what I wrote. I don't extrapolate well from other people's writing to my own, but seeing the editing process as a "living thing" in a way is good. I've seen this sort of thing done in magazine articles, ie Writer's Digest, but it comes across as flat. The interactiveness of a blog, where other people can comment, makes this work for me. So if you do a book, that's fine, but don't stop the blog or how you do the blog, because that's the thing that keeps me coming back. :)
